ANTHROPOSOPHY SANTA BARBARA

Festivals

SPRING

Easter Sunday ~ RISE ~

The Anthroposophical Group of Santa Barbara gathers before sunrise on Easter
at Shoreline Park overlooking the Leadbetter surf  point. We light candles upon arrival and hold silence as we welcome the rising sun. We form a circle for a Eurythmy Hallelujah and share readings, verses, and songs.

SUMMER

St. John's Tide ~ RENEW ~

As we breathe out with the light and warmth of summer, we take time to pause and turn inward. To re-assess and re-balance.

We gather to share a potluck meal, engage in an artistic activity, enjoy live music and sing. As each participant tosses a seed pod into the Solstice bonfire we renew our
intentions.

AUTUMN

Michaelmas ~ STRENGTHEN ~

Michaelmas falls near the equinox, the beginning of autumn and the shortening of days. We gather inner strength from summer's warmth to meet the challenge of the darkness and cold ahead. To celebrate, we steel ourselves with a challenge, enjoy a potluck supper and sing.

All Souls' Day ~ RECALL~

On November 2nd we remember and honor our loved ones no longer with us. We create an altar with pictures, mementos and flowers. We share stories and a meal which includes our ancestors favorite foods.  We also acknowledge those Anthroposophists who have gone before us.

WINTER

Holy Nights
~ ENKINDLE ~

December 26 through January 6 at various homes

During the 12 Holy Nights, from Christmas to Epiphany (January 6), the spiritual world draws near. Each night represents a month of the year ahead.
We try to  meet nightly, reading an Anthroposophic
al book or lecture. Lively discussion follows along with warm tea and socializing.
